This paper makes an effort to map contemporary Islamic thoughts in international domain and Indonesia domain. Its goal is to find a slot which could be filled by a further thought. This paper not only describes discourses and tendencies which appear in contemporary Islam, but also sorters discourses and tendencies. Some of them are positive and some other are negative. The positive is suitable for recent time and future. The negative should be eliminated. Remembering the existence of several positive discourses and tendencies, this paper recommends an eclectical suggestion for developing Islamic thoughts.
